Terms & Conditions
TERMS & CONDITIONS 2026
Our policies have been carefully developed to alleviate any possible confusion concerning our approach to your child’s dance training at MRDS. These policies are based on many years of dance instruction and past experiences. After you have read through all our policies, please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
By registering my child/ren at MRDS, I acknowledge the following:
- Dance involves twisting, turning and jumping and injuries may result. MRDS (neither the owner nor the teachers employed or contracted by MRDS) does not accept responsibility, directly or indirectly, and will not be held liable for any accident or death, injuries, illness, damage and/or losses suffered by you and/or the student during dance lessons, rehearsals, performances or functions. You hereby agree to indemnify and not hold MRDS, or any of its employees, responsible in the event of any such occurrences.
Classes:
- The instructional year runs from February to November (10 months).
- No classes are presented during January and December, and no tuition is charged for those two months.
- No classes are presented on public holidays, or during the school holidays, on competition days (regardless of whether your dancer is competing on that specific day or not) or during the ballet exam period, unless previously arranged by your teacher.
- Classes are strictly 30mins in length, once a week, per style, unless otherwise indicated by your teacher.
- Please take note that extra time cannot be allocated to a class due to latecomers as classes run in succession.
- It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to make sure that your dancer has transport to and from all dance examinations/performances and/or competitions.
- Dance involves special clothing/accessories and it's the responsibility of the parent/guardian to ensure that a student will have the correct attire for the dance style/s that they are enrolled for.
- A parent/guardian/family member must be present on the day of examinations/competitions/events to make sure that the student is correctly groomed for their examination/competition/event.
- MRDS will hold within its sole discretion the final say as to the suitability of a student to be entered for examinations, competitions and/or shows/concerts.
- If a dancer has missed more than 20% of exam and/or competition classes, she will not be entered into any dance examinations and/or competitions and/or shows/concerts.
- MRDS and its teachers may, at their sole and exclusive discretion, withdraw or hold back from any such specified events, any student that in the opinion of MRDS and its teachers, appears to be inadequately prepared due to poor attendance and/or performance.
- Please note that 4 year old students do not participate in ballet exams/competitions/prizegivings etc. A special “brag day” is organised for parents & family members.
Fees:
- Fees are payable monthly and in advance, via EFT.
- There is an annual registration fee of R240 per student.
- Fees will not be adjusted for missing class due to sport, personal events, vacations, etc.
- Monthly statements are sent as a curtesy, but should not be considered as an invoice. Please remember you may not be sent a monthly statement, and tuition/class fees are due regardless.
- Tuition/class fees are considered past due if not paid by the 5th of the month. A R40 late fee per family will automatically be charged to all late accounts on the 6th of each month.
- If tuition becomes 30 days delinquent students are subject to removal from classes.
- Please note that examinations and competitions have separate participation fees from monthly class fees, thus, monthly class fees do not include class attire, exam entry fees, competition entry fees, choreography fees or costume fees, all of which will be communicated timeously, where applicable.
- Any student signed up/selected for an examination/competition/costume with fees that are not paid by the closing date communicated, regrettably will not be entered.
- Parents/guardians will be responsible for the payment of 1 (one) extra dance costume per style, per year for concert/competition purposes, if applicable. Competition attire depends on the dance that the dancer will be entered into and will be discussed with parents when competition rehearsals start.
- Solo costumes (if applicable) are the responsibility of the parent. Parents can make use of the studio’s preferred seamstress, or buy/rent/make it as they see fit.
